Traveling in Germany was a great experience in food. I stayed in a hotel which featured a typical German breakfast buffet with a great variety of items from cold cuts, fruits, hot dishes and desserts. I always tend to gravitate towards the desserts first and then I get a cup of coffee. Lots of the bakeries I visited had seasonal fruit tarts and cakes. Also, I found many versions of plum tarts. When I got home, I was inspired by all of those gorgeous tarts, and I went right to the market looking for plums. There were lots of varieties, but I settled on some lovely elephant plums and I made a cake with them. The cake was so moist and tasty. You can’t beat luscious seasonal fruit for a spectacular cake!
